activities written more than once, so let’s talk about skiing. Who has been skiing before?
S: (Students raise their hands)
T: Wow! Lots of you have skied. Akina, you’ve skied?
Akina: Yes.
T: Great. Do you have plans to go skiing this year?
Akina: Yes, with my family over March break.
T: Perfect, over March break. Class, when we are talking about the month of March, is that in the past, present
or future?
S: Future.
T: Perfect! And what type of weather do we need in order to go skiing?
S: Winter weather.
T: Yes, we ski in the winter. And what do we need in the winter to be able to ski? Botan?
Botan: We need snow.
T: Correct. We need snow to ski. So, what can we say can happen if there is snow?
S: If it snows, we will go skiing.
T: Excellent! If it snows, we will go skiing. (I will now draw the timeline on the board and write ‘If it snows, we
will go skiing’) Everyone repeat; ‘If it snows, we will go skiing’ (while pointing at the timeline).

T: Good job! Hiroshi, if it snows, what will we do?
Hiroshi: We will go skiing.
T: Yes! And what is a shorter form of ‘we will’
S: We’ll
T: Very good! Kaiya can you spell that for us.
Kaiya: (spells out ‘we’ll’)

S: Present simple tense.
