- witches casting spells
- hear Macbeth arrive
- Macbeth demands to hear more predictions
- The new predictions are: None of woman born shall harm Macbeth, Beware Macduff
(the thane of Fife), Macbeth will be OK unless Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Hill
- Macbeth also asks about Banquo’s descendants if they will be King – shown a long line
of Banquo’s descendants who are in the mirrors.
- Macbeth finds out Macduff has fled to England and decides to have Macduff’s entire
family killed as revenge.
Act 4, Scene 2
- Lady Macduff is talking with Ross about how she feels her husband has deserted
them.
- Ross tells her to run away with her children – she refuses
- Murderers come and kill the entire family.
Act 4 Scene 3
- Macduff talks with Malcolm (Duncan’s son and heir to the throne) – talking about the
terrible state Scotland is in under Macbeth
- Malcolm tests Macduff’s loyalty
- Ross arrives and tells Macduff his family have all been slaughtered by Macbeth as well
as adding to the information that Scotland is suffering under the tyrant Macbeth.
- Macduff decides to take revenge on Macbeth.
