Divorce can impact all individuals in a family unit in different ways. Adding new
members into a pre-existing family unit can bring conflict. The Reyes family is experiencing
conflict between some members and has sought marriage and family counseling to work through
their presenting concerns. This paper will identify a theoretical model and its application to the
Reyes family issues. In addition, it will address the counselor's role and what appropriate
interventions will be utilized to lead the family to a successful therapeutic outcome.
Theoretical Model
The theoretical model selected for the Reyes Family is Cognitive Behavioral
