The Zulu Summary:
In an IsiZulu summary, we will need to summarise a 190-220 word text in 50-60 words. The
word count must be given, and it may not be exceeded, or not met at all. In the 50-60 words
summary, we must show an understanding of the text.
Rules:
In the IsiZulu summary, the instructions must be followed very carefully. The
commands/instruction words will explain exactly what we must do, where we should use
those words, and other key words (of which we must identify) to write our summary.
The IsiZulu summary is a Five-Point Summary, meaning five points must be given. Each
point is worth 2 marks.
The points can be presented in the following ways:
• Full sentences in point form.
• A paragraph (unless stated).
• Tabulation.
• A flow chart.
In the summary we are expected to use our own words/vocabulary, where our grammar is
correct.
Instructions for a summary will look like the following:
