INLEIDING
• Reusing the ruin starts from the belief that the process of ruination of existing fabric can generate
positive qualities and characteristics. We can argue that embracing the process of ruination will
generate new insights concerning adaptive reuse of the as found which contribute to the goals of
sustainable design”
o Ruin = veel verschillende soorten betekenissen, maar in dit geval: creative spaces, resilient
spaces and spaces that allow change
o ruin the irreplaceable remains of a human construction that by a destructive act process no
longer dwells in the unity of the original, but may have new unities that we can enjoy
• Characteristics of a ruin
o No formal use but informal use
o Aesthetic derived from patina and roughness of materials
o Fragmentary nature of its form
o Ambiguous interior-exterior and fabric nature relations
o Open ended relationship with history and meaning

b. Als het een vervallen gebouw is of kapot dan willen ze de gedachte ervan behouden

c. Minder renovatie kosten, interieur en exterieur grens is vager
3. Reconfiguration
a. Complete fragmentatie of the building
b. Primary topic in architecturen
c. Hoe het hergebruiken van fragmenten een manier kan zijn om een herinnering te

Hij wou dat het materiaal op zijn hoogste kwaliteit was
o Zelfgemaakt lampen (komt terug in predikherenkerk)
o Zeer doordachte materiaalkeuzes, zoals tegels gebruikt buiten om pas te maken
o ‘it doesnt age, just as beautiful as 30 years ago”

o Was zeer jong nog toen

o Allemaal uit CLT elementen
o In Rotterdam Op een gebouw, oud warenhuis
o Was helemaal groen vanbuiten
• van Eesterenpaviljoen Amsterdam, 2014 – 2017, Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten
o door meneer van Eesteren
o iets wat architecten dachten dat heel fantastisch was
o maar na een tijdje begonnen bewoners erover te twijfelen, was heel koud
o tijdens zijn verandert => er kan niet zo makkelijk dingen veranderd worden
er werd aan hun gevraagd om een paviljoen te maken om meneer van
Eesteren te eren
o was grote inspiratie voor school die ze gerenoveerd had later
