Introduction
A1a. Professional Mission Statement
As a dedicated wound care nurse, my mission is to provide exceptional, evidence-based care that
promotes healing and enhances the quality of life for my patients. By integrating clinical expertise with
patient values, I aim to standardize care practices and reduce variations, ensuring that each patient
receives the most reliable and effective treatments. As I aspire to a managerial role, I am committed to
fostering a collaborative environment that supports continuous learning and improvement, ultimately
leading to better patient outcomes and satisfaction.
A1b. Mission Statement Reflection
Reflecting on the professional mission statement will serve as a guiding light throughout my nursing
career in several key ways. First, emphasizing evidence-based care ensures that I stay updated with the
latest research and best practices. For example, when treating a complex wound, I will rely on the most
current evidence to choose the appropriate dressing and treatment protocol, which can significantly
improve healing times and patient outcomes.
Secondly, the commitment to patient values means I will always prioritize individualized care. For
instance, if a patient has specific preferences or cultural considerations, I will integrate these into their
care plan, ensuring they feel respected and valued. This approach enhances patient satisfaction and
fosters a trusting nurse-patient relationship.
Lastly, aspiring to a managerial role focusing on collaboration and continuous improvement means I will
actively seek professional development and mentorship opportunities. For example, I might lead a team
in implementing a new wound care protocol that has shown promising results in recent studies, thereby
standardizing care practices and reducing treatment variations within my team. This mission statement
will align with my core values and professional aspirations, guiding my decisions and actions throughout
my career.
A2a. Learner & Healthcare Professional
Two papers that properly represent me as a learner and a healthcare professional would be The D226
Task 1 paper and the D221 performance assessment. These papers helped me improve my research
skills and dive into evidence-based practice research to back a need for change I noticed in my units at
the time. This taught me where to start if I ever want to bring a change implementation plan to my
leaders. I was taught how to narrow my search scope to produce precisely what I am looking for and
reliable databases to turn to when I need EBP articles to research or support a topic. My attributes as a
healthcare professional that were not only emphasized in these papers but that I also pride myself in
maintaining are my attention to detail and problem-solving skills. My solutions are typically well
thought out and cover all anticipated problem needs. The two papers mentioned in my analysis show
the benefits and barriers to a solution. I am thorough in my assessments of the unit and compile data
over a specified period that allows me to evaluate if a problem is at hand that needs a process change
to be implemented. I always start at myself and work outwards in processes and people to determine
the root cause of a problem, which is reflected in my findings and issues chosen.
