Blue badge SIDA • Allows access to the Sterile areas and the SIDA and are sponsored by the Airport Board. • Most (but not all) of this color SIDA badges may be authorized to enter the SIDA via an Employee Portal. * ONLY this color SIDA badge holders with an "E" or an "A" printed on the badge may escort others while in the SIDA or Sterile areas of the terminals. This color SIDA badge holders who do NOT have an "E" or an "A" printed on their badge are NOT authorized to escort others in the SIDA or Sterile areas of the terminals. Red Badge SIDA • Allows access to the Sterile areas and the SIDA and are sponsored by authorized governmental agencies. • Authorized to enter the SIDA via an Employee Portal. * ONLY this color SIDA badge holders with an "E" or an "A" printed on the badge may escort others while in the SIDA or Sterile areas of the terminals. This color SIDA badge holders who do NOT have an "E" printed on their badge are NOT authorized to escort others in the SIDA or Sterile areas of the terminals Possessing a DFW Airport Badge is: a privilege, not a right, and you MUST follow certain rules to maintain that privilege. What is your ID Badge for? official use and can only be used while you are on duty at the airport How must your badge be worn? When working inside the SIDA or sterile areas of the terminals, ID badges must be displayed on the outermost garment, above the waist and below the neck at all times. The badge must be displayed so that it is easy to see and recognize with the picture side facing forward. Who can use or wear the ID? Only the person who was issued the ID badge. Should you give or lend your ID badge to anyone? No. Wearing or using someone else's ID badge is illegal and is a violation of the airport's security rules. What happens if you forget your ID badge? You cannot work in the sterile area or the SIDA and you cannot be escorted. Are you exempt from TSA screening with your ID badge? No. You are not exempt from TSA checkpoint screening or random inspections at the Employee Portals and other areas throughout the airport. What should you do if your ID badge is lost/stolen? Report it to your supervisor and the ACO immediately so that the badge can be deactivated to prevent unauthorized use. During business hours: supervisor notifies the ACO by submitting a Badge Deletion Request or calling 972.973.3210 and asking to speak to a Police Supervisor to have the badge deactivated and then submit a BDR. How long do you have to replace a lost/stolen badge? 10 business days from the date of loss or theft. An application is required when coming to the ACO for the replacement. Where are replacement fees listed? The airport's schedule of charges located on the airport website. Fees escalate each time a badge is replaced and not permitted after the third occurrence. There may not be a fee for a stolen badge if a police report listing the badge as stolen property is provided to the ACO at the time of badge replacement. How is access to the US Customs and Border Protection Secure Identification Area identified? A seal on the badge. The seal identifies the Customer secure areas you are authorized to enter. Access to US Customs Secure Identification Areas must be approved by the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection. When and by whom can your badge be revoked? At any time by the Airport Security Coordinator (ASC). Whose property is your ID badge? DFW International Airport Board. It must be returned immediately upon demand or termination. If you leave your employment, you must return your badge to your supervisor or to the ACO immediately. Badge Renewal Employees responsibility to submit a renewal application and renew the badge prior to the expiration date. You are encouraged to start the process 60 days before the expiration date. Expired badges (30+ days) will require the badge holder to begin the application process over again, including a fee, fingerprinting, and a Security Threat Assessment result from TSA before the next badge will be issued. Employee Portal Rules Some, but not all, SIDA badge holders are authorized to use the Employee Portals in the terminals. There are specific rules that must be followed when you use the portals. Employee Portals are: monitored by video cameras at all times. Who may use Employee Portals? SIDA badge holders who have been authorized to used the Portals. Is there public access through the Employee Portals? No Use of the Employee Portals for the purpose of boarding an aircraft for travel is: prohibited. Except for on-duty air carrier flight crew who are in uniform. For the purpose of this rule, an on-duty air carrier flight crew member is one who is actively engaged as a pilot, copilot, flight engineer or serving as a flight attendant on board a flight departing DFW. Can you escort or piggy back through an Employee Portal? No Employees are subject to: random inspection of their person and/or property Items prohibited at TSA checkpoints are: also prohibited at Employee Portals, except for liquids, gels, and/or aerosols. Tools prohibited at the TSA checkpoints CANNOT be taken through an Employee Portal Items to be sold to the traveling public CANNOT be taken through an Employee Portal Failure to abide by the Employee Portal rules may: subject you to a suspension or revocation of your access privileges, repeat SIDA training, civil or criminal prosecution, and/or fines imposed by the TSA for violating Federal regulations, so be sure when you use the Employee Portals that you are following all of the rules. Challenge Procedure As an airport employee, it is your responsibility to challenge or report any individual in the SIDA who is not displaying an authorized ID badge. • approach the person and ask to see their ID badge in a non-threatening manner • check the badge thoroughly, verifying the correct color, photo and expiration date • if they do not have a valid ID badge or you're uncomfortable approaching a suspicious individual - contact DPS at 911 and give a detailed description of the person and their location • do not attempt to physically restrain the individual, just keep the individual under observation until DPS arrives It is a security violation if you fail to challenge someone not displaying their ID badge in the SIDA - get in the habit of looking for badges because this process is frequently tested by the TSA and other security officials Personal Escort Procedures On occasion, you may be required to escort individuals into the SIDA by either providing a personal escort or a vehicle escort. Please remember that you must have an "E" or an "A" printed on your badge to escort others. The person being escorted must: remain within visual and audile contact at all times. How many individuals can you escort? Up to five. Escorting more than five individuals is a security violation and may cause you to lose your access privileges. What is the length of time you can escort the same individual? A maximum of 30 consecutive calendar days. A person that needs access beyond this time frame is required to obtain a badge that is appropriate for their job responsibilities. Restrictions are listed in the Airport Security Program (ASP). Where can SIDA badge holders that have an "E" or an "A" printed on their badge escort Green Non-SIDA badge holders? Into the SIDA, but not through TSA Checkpoints or Employee Portals into the sterile areas of the terminals. Where can SIDA badge holders that have an "E" or an "A" printed on their badge escort White SIDA badge holders? Into the SIDA and sterile areas of the terminals through TSA checkpoints or manned AOA gates, but not through the Employee Portals. The SIDA badge holder who is providing the escort is responsible for: the actions of ALL the individuals they are escorting. If you are transferring your escort responsibility to another SIDA badge holder with "E" or "A" printed on their badge, they must acknowledge that they are assuming responsibility for the individual. You can only provide escorts to areas where: your ID badge allows access. Escorting an individual through an Employee Portal is: not allowed. It is a security violation for badge holders and may result n the suspension or revocation of access privileges. It is a security violation to provide an escort if you do not have: an "E" or an "A" printed on your badge, because you are not authorized to escort anyone at any time. Employees driving an AOA authorized vehicle that is providing a vehicle escort for an unpermitted vehicle must: • be authorized to drive on the AOA • have a SIDA badge that has an "E" or an "A" printed on it • identify themselves to the security personnel at the AOA gate by presenting a valid SIDA badge that is programmed with access for the AOA gate All occupants of the vehicle providing the escort who have SIDA badges must: present their badge and it must be programmed with access for the AOA gate If an occupant of the vehicle providing the escort has a Green or White badge, or no badge at all: they must present valid proof of identity to the security personnel at the AOA gate and they must remain under escort when exiting the vehicle while on the SIDA. The driver of the permitted vehicle must also identify who they are escorting and where they are going. The driver of the unpermitted vehicle being escorted must: present a valid driver's license to the security personnel and must remain in visual and physical proximity of the permitted vehicle providing the escort at all times. All occupants of the vehicle being escorted must present valid proof of identity to the security personnel at the AOA gate and must remain under personal escort when exiting the vehicle while on the SIDA. Acceptable documents for valid proof of identity can be found: on TSA's website at under the link for Acceptable Identification at the checkpoint. Some AOA gates require the use of: an intellikey (electronic key) to open the gate. Insert and turn the intellikey unless there is a sign that says otherwise. Intellikeys expire: when your badge expires and must be presented to the ACO when renewing your badge. • Do not allow others to use your intellikey • you must return your intellikey to the ACO if you no longer need it or no longer work at DFW
