Describe the types of food products offered by food retailers
There are many different types of food products within the food retailing, one which is fresh food
which an example is Apples, This is a food product which is harvested from trees, this food is fresh
due to being hand picked and must be eaten within two month.This product can be purchased in
specialist outlets such as farmer markets if the customer is willing to pay more for the quiality as well
as superstores,multiples and cooperatives.Fresh food (Apples) can be fair trade as many farms
cooperate with superstores such as Tescos to provide fresh organic food.As this food is fresh it tends
to be organic only.
Another product is Frozen food an example of frozen food is Frozen fish, These are products which
are kept in the freezer as it lasts longer and is cheaper than fresh fish. Product can be purchased at
E-traders , Superstores,Cooperatives and multiples , all these stores sell frozen food. Frozen fish is
predominately not fair trade however some products are, frozen food can be organic and convential
dependning on the price the customer wants to pay, also these foods are most suited for
pescetarian and meat eaters.
The next product is produce an example of produce is fuirt such as grapes, Produce food can be
grapes which is fresh food prodcude by farms. The word produce implements that the prodcts are
freshly harvested and in the same condition which they were harvested in. This products can be
brought in outlets such as, Superstores and Farmers Markets this is because these grapes are sold at
a high quiality and fresh which you get if you purchase the organic produce quality. Produce foods –

The following product is ready cooked range, an example of this is salad. Ready cook ranges are
products which have been cooked already and are ready to eat, this type of food is covenant as you
can eat it staght out of the packaging or only have to microwave it. Salad are ready cook ranges as
