Who the organisation is
Pfizer is a biopharmaceutical that discovers, develops and provides over 120 different
medicines, vaccines and healthcare products to help improve the lives of people in the UK
and around the world every year.
Aims of the organisation
The aims of Pfizer is to work together in order to transform lives, they believe that patients
should have access to the best medicines and should have the right to choose how they
want to be treated. They spend a lot of time talking to patient groups, governments and
healthcare providers to ensure that patients have access to the medicines they need the
most.
Size of the organisation (How it is structured)
The total number of employees working for Pfizer has decreased from 116,500 in 2009 to
78,300 in 2014. After a merger with Wyeth in 2009, Pfizer cut over 50,000employees.
The company operates in more than 75 international markets, including Japan (8% of sales),
Australia, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Scandinavia, South Korea, and countries in
Western Europe; the company is also growing in emerging markets such as Brazil, China,
India, Mexico, Russia, and Turkey.
