Human resource management

Internal planning factors How it affects human resource planning of John Lewis
Organisational needs; higher demand for John Lewis would need to consider hiring more staff in the periods where these is a higher demand for their
products and services products and services. This is due to there being a larger amount of customers and their needs when there is a
higher demand in their stores. When this is to happen around times such as Christmas then John Lewis would
need to take on temporary staff to be able to meet the higher amount of demand. They would have to hire more
on the shop floor if the higher demand was in store and if the demand was online then staff would need to be
hired in the technological department.
The demand in certain seasons such as the festive season around Christmas would be of higher demand each year
due to the amount of people that would be shopping for presents and food. John Lewis would manage their

they would need to provide a wide range of knowledge to the customers.

changes in technology that means it is possible for the company to work in some departments with computers and
machines. An example of this could be how there has been machines made which mean that people can be served
without the need of a person. This would benefit human resources as it would mean they would be saving money
by not having to spend as much on wages and this could go into investing into something that could further the
business. However their customers may not feel as valued and less satisfied with their shopping experience if they
