The Scenario & Challenge
You have been experiencing some stomach issues for the last 5 days after eating ice cream contaminated with
listeria bacteria. You are experiencing some dehydration from the lack of water and nutritional content because of
the frequent watery stools. At urgent care, the doctor suggests eating foods that will balance your caloric intake
and water absorption to solidify your stool and decrease discomfort.
Design (Develop or Create) a digestive system using the Gizmo to maximize your digestive process and achieve
a healthy digestion with water absorption of 75% and a calorie absorption closest to 100% by feeding it different
types of food.
1. What will you need to consider before starting?
- What each organ does, what the order of the organs is, what each accessory organ is ,what the structure that
we currently have, understand how that system works, think about how we will collect the data for the experiment.
- Figure out what listeria bacteria is and what it does
2. What information you will need to collect to conclude the challenge?
- Figure out the amount of nutritional values like total calories, total carbohydrates, serving size, and etc. Which are
found on food labels of the food you are going to eat.
3. Create a table for data collection in the space below. Following this, attempt to create the ideal digestive system
and test it out using the available foods. Record your findings.
