Sentences can be active or passive. What is the difference?
Ian sells computers. Computers are sold (by Ian).

PASSIVE SENTENCES
1. - In this hotel, they clean the rooms every day.
- In this hotel, the rooms are cleaned by them every day.
- Someone stole my bike last night.
- My bike was stolen by someone last night.
2. - The government will lower the taxes.
- The taxes will be lowered by the government.
3. - We need to fire 5,000 people.
- Five thousand people will need to be fired by us.
4. - Cats kill mice.
- Mice are killed by cats.

1. The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive one.

active: The police arrest the thief.
passive: The thief is arrested (by the police).
