,The equilibrium constant, K
The equilibrium constant, K, expresses the relationship between products and
reactants of a reaction at equilibrium with respect to a specific unit.
Equilibrium is established when the rate of the forward reaction equals to the rate
of the backward reaction. It is denoted by the double half-arrow sign: ⇋
The concentrations of the reactants and products stays constant in equilibrium.
However, there is reaction still happening: dynamic equilibrium.
If K>1, then equilibrium favours the products.
If K<1, then equilibrium favours the reactants.
