Digital storage oscilloscope commonly known as DSO is not only the displaying device but it also stores the waveform. Rather than processing the signals in an analog fashion, the DSO converts them into a digital format using an analog to digital convertor (ADC). Since the waveform is stored in a digital format, the data can be processed either within the oscilloscope itself, or even by a PC connected to it (“DIGITAL STORAGE OSCILLOSCOPE (DSO).” 2015). Modern digital multimeters have many abilities, there are a wide range available to suit most engineer’s needs. These start from basic models costing only a few Pounds Sterling which are capable of measuring voltage, resistance and current, to expensive and exotic meters. The more expensive meters can perform not only the three functions mentioned above but depending on the needs of the service technician there are meters to measure capacitance, frequency, temperature, transistor specifications etc (“Multimeter Functions.” 2009). DC power supply unit are power supplies which produce an output DC voltage. Power supplies are devices that deliver electric power to one or several loads. They generate the output power by converting an input signal into an output signal. A basic DC power supply can be built with four circuits (or sections), as shown in the following diagram, where each block represents a circuit that performs a specific function. (“DC Power Supplies Information.” n.d.). A breadboard is a device used as a construction base in developing an electronic circuit. Breadboards can be solderless, which allows them to be reusable. A solderless breadboard is made of plastic and perforated with numerous holes. Small tin-plated bronze or nickel alloy clips are located under the perforations and provide contact points or "nodes" to attach electronic pieces to create a circuit. A breadboard is used for multiple functions to create a variety of products using electricity (Ideboen 2015). A series circuit is one with all the loads in a row. There is only one path for the electricity to flow. If this circuit was a string of light bulbs, and one blew out, the remaining bulbs would turn off. The same current flows through each part of a series circuit, the total resistance of a series circuit is equal to the sum of individual resistances and voltage applied to a series circuit is equal to the sum of the individual voltage drops (Hoffman n.d.) ..............................CONTINUED..........................
