Quality and Performance Management and Methods
TASK 3 – Passed
Performance Improvement Management
Western Governors University
, Supervisors use effective processes to maintain workplace standards and guidelines,
including keeping written policies where employees can access them. They should ensure
employees can access the tools required to perform their jobs successfully, such as programs and
software. They can set goals that are obtainable and match the organization's vision. They can
provide feedback, mentorship programs, and continuous learning opportunities so employees can
learn new techniques and skills for their positions. (Shaw & Carter, 2019)
A2.
There are many ways that a supervisor can promote productivity improvement for staff
members. One is acknowledging good performance. Offering incentives such as money, awards,
or time off helps boost employee morale and make them feel appreciated. Employees who feel
appreciated and that their work is valued are more likely to increase their productivity.
Another way to promote productivity improvements is to offer continuous education
through mentorship programs or tuition assistance. Employees can enhance or learn new skills
related to their job functions through in-service education, continuing education, and career
development. (Oachs & Watters, 2020)
A3.
A supervisor can foster team building by:
A. Communicating goals clearly and defining responsibilities- Each team
member will know their role's expectations. This leaves little room for
confusion about who is accountable for which task. Fostering open and honest
communication is key to success.
B. Providing feedback- this way, team members know what works and what they
need to improve on. (Team Bonding, n.d.)
C. Celebrate success- offer outings, rewards, and food to celebrate the team
reaching their target.
D. Allow team members to problem solve- brainstorming should be encouraged
to “develop confidence and foster a sense of ownership.” (Brigden, 2024)
E. Bringing members of the HIM department with different skills, such as ROI
and scanning team, to collaborate on a project to improve the department's
workflow. The supervisor will allow all team members to share ideas and
encourage frequent communication.
B1.
To develop a professional development program, you could use the ADDIE Model-
analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. Other options include in-service education,
continuing education programs, and career development. (Oachs & Watters, 2020) To use the
ADDIE Model:
Analyze the needs of the organization and department and what training is
needed, such as technology, state and federal regulations, and HIM best practices
Design the objective and technique used in the training methods- online training,
workshops, or a combination of the two. Determine the duration of the training.
(Quigley, n.d.)
Develop a curriculum for the training and test to see how it works- in this step,
classes will be developed that support learning state and federal HIM guidelines
