My name is Student, and I am currently a student enrolled in the HSY1511
History module. I am passionate about understanding the past to make better
sense of the present and future.
Portfolio Purpose
The purpose of this Portfolio is to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and
competencies I have acquired during the HSY1511 course. It also serves as a
tool to reflect on my academic growth, organise my learning process, and present
my completed assessments in a structured and coherent format.
Course Overview – HSY1511 Course Objectives
To gain an understanding of significant developments in the history of
Africa and the world from the 17th century to the early 21st century.
To acquire an appreciation of the critical place of Africa in the history of the
world.
To gain an understanding of some major themes in the history of Africa
and the world over the last four centuries, and to come to understand the
important place of Africa in these developments.
Develop an understanding of the historical roots of current African society,
acquire respect, appreciation and understanding of different societies,
cultures and points of view.
To produce effective learning, analytical and critical skills which are
appropriate to the discipline of History and are transferable to other
disciplines and other contexts.
