, 1.3 The Oneness of God and the Trinity
The Trinity - there are three 'persons', which are all God. The Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit. Only one person of the Trinity had a physical body/presence,
the Son (Jesus). It can be seen as one in three and three in one.
It describes:
 There is only one God
 Each person of the Trinity is fully God
 The persons of the Trinity are not the same.

What does Christianity teach about the Trinity?
 God is not a physical, corporeal being - God does not have a body (Jesus
does).
 Only person of the Trinity to take human form was the Son (Jesus)
 God is one, we cannot deny the oneness of God or Christianity would be
polytheistic (many Gods/more than 1 God).
 God is one in three and three in one

God the Father
Believed to be the creator of the earth, the Alpha and the Omega. Because he
created life, he acts like a good father would towards his children. He is
omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omnipresent, and omniscient.

God the Son
He became incarnate Earth as Jesus. Christians believe Jesus was fully human
and fully God all times.

God the Holy Spirit
God sent the Holy Spirit after Jesus ascended to sustain the earth and all life on
it. It is believed to be the unseen power of God at work in the world.

(During Jesus' baptism), 'the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a
dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I
am well pleased."'
This proves the existence of the Trinity.

Why is the Trinity important to Christian beliefs?
 It helps humanity recognise the God they meet in the Bible (in history and
their current life).
 Steers humanity away from wrong ideas of God, e.g. hierarchal, being
logically understandable.
 Helps humanity understand God's complexity.

Where do we see the Trinity being referenced in Christian worship?
