, The Management of Crime by the SAPS
The main problem stems from the management of criminal activities in communities,
with Durban Central being a constant place of concern in KwaZulu-Natal. The lack of
procedural, processes, and labor overseeing influences the effective utilization of the
SAPS to combat criminal activities, and proactively protect areas that often experience
contract killings (Bhana et al, 2021:83).
The police service has the responsibility to carry out the rules and regulations
stipulated in Chapter 11 of the constitution, which is the protection and serving of
citizens. The question lies with the intervention that is being implemented to mitigate
and eliminate contract killings as they are aware of contract killings involving the use
of illegal firearms (Yaneva et al., 2018:54).
Measures to Ensure Reliability and Validity
To pre-examine the identified target group and ensure they are the real human beings
needed for this research, check the person and data's authenticity by submitting the
questionnaire via a registered email address. The data validity can be ensured by
doing a post-questionnaire call just thanking them for being part of the study whilst
asking one or two questions about the questionnaire experience.
Ethical Guidelines
Ethics are principles that researchers anywhere in the world need to abide by when
conducting any investigational study (Clark-Kazak, 2019:33). The researcher of this
study abides and is in line with ethical practices of this project being obtaining consent
from participants, protection of personal information through maintaining anonymity
and confidentiality, and lastly prevention from harm when researching criminal matters
in the Durban Central area.
