, QUESTION 1
You have applied for a physical educator position at a school, and you have
been invited to be interviewed for the position. In the interview, you are asked to
talk about what your high-level objectives of developing a physical education
programme are. In your own words, write down how you would answer this
question
Through physical activity, the main objective is to assist students in developing into
mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially competent citizens.
Physical education is typically offered in schools and, depending on the grade level,
may even be required of the students. The goal of physical education is to give
students the information and abilities they need to lead active, healthy lives.
Additionally, the program hopes to play a special role in the development of the
attitudes, norms, knowledge, skills, habits, and abilities that help students grow into
successful, happy, responsible adults.
QUESTION 2
You are a physical educator at a poor rural school with limited resources. After
reading 2.3 (page 9–10, focus on points 1–7) in your study guide, write down
seven (7) sentences in your own words that would highlight likely challenges to
teaching physical education at the school that you teach at.
In the majority of South African schools, there is a serious problem with the lack of
resources for physical education.
Most public primary schools are unable to provide effective physical education
programs due to a lack of funding. Playgrounds are typically absent from schools in
slum areas, which is a very common circumstance. Inadequate government funding
has made physical education resources even more scarce in South African public
primary schools. Participants who would have supported the government's efforts to
provide physical education have not responded favourably to the issue. There, I said
it briefly.
For high-quality instruction and learning in our schools, assistance is required to
increase the availability of physical education resources.
