Poetry is a form of creative writing that uses language to evoke emotion, convey
ideas, and express one's thoughts and feelings using meter, rhyme, and other
literary devices.
1.2. Discuss two benefits of exposing children to nursery rhymes and poems
for children. (4)
1. Developing language skills: Listening to and reciting poems can help children
develop their vocabulary, improve their grammar and syntax, and enhance their
pronunciation and intonation. It can also introduce them to different literary devices,
such as rhyme, alliteration, and metaphor.
2. Encouraging creativity and imagination: By listening to stories and verses, children
can develop a sense of imagination, creativity, and critical thinking skills. They can
also learn to use their imagination to create their own stories and poems, which can
help them express themselves better and build confidence in their own abilities.
