, The following assignment questions require you to reflect on your own
learning experiences at the University of South Africa.
a) EDS3701 is offered strictly online. Explain what online learning is
according to your own understanding? Include both the advantages and
disadvantages of this learning method. Use your own experiences of
learning at UNISA. (12)
Answer:
Online learning refers to the delivery of education and training through digital
platforms such as online classrooms, discussion forums, video conferencing,
and webinars. It allows students to access course materials, complete
assignments, and interact with instructors and fellow students at their own
pace and time. In my experience, online learning at UNISA has provided me
with the flexibility to study at my own pace and time, which is particularly
beneficial for those who have other commitments such as work or family.
Advantages of online learning include:
Flexibility: Online learning provides the flexibility to study at one's own pace
and time, which allows students to balance their education with other
commitments.
Access: Online learning makes education accessible to people who may not
have the opportunity to attend traditional classrooms due to location, finances,
or other reasons.
Convenience: With online learning, students can access course materials and
assignments from anywhere with an internet connection, which eliminates the
need to travel to a physical location.
Disadvantages of online learning include:
