Introduction to Intercultural Management
The aim of this course: to explain the most relevant cultural differences in
business and to exchange our experience in this regard; to show the beauty of
diversity.
Culture:
- Latin cultura mentis - agriculture, tilling of the soil. Refinement of the
mind; a very narrow definition.
- It's used to describe the behaviours of the people
- The software of the mind - all patterns of thinking, feeling and or acting,
influencing behaviour of group members
- A system of values, priorities etc.
- Smth that each community creates
Layers of culture:
- National culture
- Region/ethnic/religious/linguistic level
- Gender level
- Generation level
- Social class level
- Organisational culture (while being a student at the university)
- All business conducted today may become global
- All business conducted today faces intercultural and cross-cultural
problems
