World War 1
World war 1 was started when Austria-Hungary declared war on
Serbia on 28th July 1914. This comes after the assassination of
Archduke Ferdinand Carl Ludwig Joseph Maria of Astria by the
Black Hand due to his perceived threat to Serbia's independence.

Date 2-7: During this period countries started invading other
countries:
As Germany had made plans to besiege France by crossing
through Belgium and Luxembourg, they invaded Luxembourg
and Belgium despite their neutrality.
France invaded Alsace due to its geographic location and its
tumultuous recent history all combined to give the region a
distinct experience of the war.
British forces arrived in France which finally led to Nations
fighting against Germany including Great Britain, Russia, Italy,
Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Rhodesia, Romania,
Greece, France, Belgium, United States, Canada, Serbia, India,
Portugal, Montenegro and Poland.

September 9:
Allied forces against Germany halted them from advancing into
France during the first battle of the Marne due to the diplomatic
alliances that were in place before the war.

February 18:
Germany had started to experience food shortages and the
unpopular compulsory service they had imposed even on their
armed forces was not working so they hoped to break the British
stronghold blockade of crucial German supply ports and knock
Britain out of the war within the year.

Early morning of this day allied forces landed on the Gallipoli
Peninsula in Ottoman Turkey, this marked the campaign of the
Gallipoli a land-based element of a broad strategy to defeat the
Ottoman Empire and to allow their ships to pass through the
Dardanelles to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul) and
ultimately knock Ottoman Turkey out of the war.
