YVR AVOP
Aerodrome - ANS-Any area used either in whole or in part for the arrival and departure
movement, or servicing of aircraft, including any related buildings, installations, and
equipment
Apron - ANS-The part of the airside used for loading, unloading, and servicing aircraft,
as well for vehicle, passenger, and other pedestrian movement.
Controlled Area / Surface - ANS-An airside area that cannot be entered unless
clearance had been obtained from ATC.
Controlled Taxiway - ANS-A taxiway under the control of ATC. Only vehicles operated
by, or escorted by the holder of a D AVOP may enter or cross a controlled taxiway.
Obtaining clearance from ATC is a mandatory prior to entering or crossing..
Glide Path - ANS-Part of the instrument Landing System that transmits a beam to the
plane at the right angles to the localizer beam at the ideal approach path angle.
Head-of-Stand (HOS) Road - ANS-Vehicle corridor that passes underneath the bridges
located between the nose of the aircraft and face of the terminal building.
Horseshoe - ANS-A portion of Apron VI between B and C piers on the west side of the
Domestic Terminal Building.
Instrument Landing System (ILS) - ANS-Landing aid for aircraft that uses radio beacons
on the ground and instruments on the flight deck. One beacon (localizer) sends out a
vertical radio beam along thr centre line of the runway. Another beacon (glide scope)
transmit a beam to the plane at right angles to the localizer beam at the ideal approach
path angle.
Localizer - ANS-Part of the ILS that sends out vertical beam along the centre line of the
runway and helps the pilot to remain lined up with the runway during an instrumental
approach.
Low Visibility Operations (LVOP) - ANS-Runway visible Range is 1200 ft to 600 ft
Reduced Visibility Operations (RVOP) - ANS-Runway visible range is 2600 ft to 1200 ft
, Manoeuvring Area - ANS-A subset of the movement area used for the take off and
landing of aircraft and for the movement of an aircraft associated with take off and
landing. All of the runway, helipads, and most taxiways at YVR are controlled surfaces.
Movement Area - ANS-All controlled and uncontrolled areas of the Aerodrome provided
for the movement of aircraft.
Over Height Vehicles - ANS-2.0 m (6.5 ft) or higher
Runway Stop Bars - ANS-Single row of flush or semi-flush red inset lights along the
runway holding position marking
Tail-Of-Stand (TOS) - ANS-Area behind the tails of aircrafts at the operating stands,
extending to the tail clearance/yield line
Uncontrolled Area / Surface - ANS-Vehicle movement is permitted without clearance
from ATC, aprons used servicing planes, the gate areas, loading and unloading.
Uncontrolled Taxiway - ANS-Not under the control of ATC
North Ground - ANS-127.15 MHz
South Ground - ANS-121.70 MHz
Distance to remain from an Aircraft when not servicing - ANS-25 ft or 7.5 m
Speed in Baggage Make-Up Area - ANS-10 km/h
Speed in All tunnel ramps and HOS between B & C piers - ANS-15 km/h
