Effects of World War 1 Introduction It has been a century since the end of a significant war in history, World War 1. It is one of the greatest war since it affected many people across the globe and the most significant warfare anyone had ever witnessed. The war began in 1914 following the murder of Australian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The assassination sparked a war that led to massive destruction and the deaths of millions of soldiers and citizens across Europe. The aftermath of the saw drastic cultural, economic, social, and political reforms across different parts of the world such as Africa, Eurasia, and even nations that were not involved in the war. As a result, four empires collapsed, old countries broke down and establishing new ones, international organizations were established, boundaries were redrawn, and new outlooks on life took over old ideologies. Most of those who managed to get back home from the war were wounded physically or suffered from PTSD from their experience (Strachan, 100). For this reason, it was known as "the war to end all wars." A war that caused devastating effects among the people and countries across the world. This essay discusses the impact the World War 1 on countries and the people.
