Vocabulary

 People who work for a company are on its payroll
 They are its employees, personnel, staff, workers or workforce
o People carrying out the work of company, rather than the company
 Hierarchy
o Management
o Labour
 White-collar workers
 Manual/blue-collar workers

2. Management and administration
 Different sites in different places
 Head office of headquarters (HQ)
o Some managers have their own offices
o Most employees work in open-plan-offices
 Administration > informally: admin
o Administrative/support staff
 Technical support

Vocabulary

 Labour = to talk about everyone, expect the management, who works for a company
o -costs = what companies have to pay for labour, rather than materials
o -dispute = a disagreement between management and labour
o -leader = someone in charge of an organization that represents workers
o -relations = the relationship between management and employees in general
o -shortage = a period when there are not enough people available to work
o -unrest = a period of disagreement between management and employees
