behouden. Relaties met een gevoel van veiligheid.

Baby:

• 8 weken → sociale lach, protoconversaties (wederzijdse interacties).

Sociale vigilantie
Sociale aandacht = a sustained orientation towards conspecifics.
Facial expressions:

• Survival, attachment, threat detection
• Darwin → universeel, human emotions
• Ekman → 6 basis emoties
• Cross-culturele 6 universele emoties

Fearful = indicating presence of threat different from expresser.
Angry = expresser is direct threat to observer → amygdala activiteit: damage →
impairment to draw and recognize fearful faces. Weten wel wat angst is. Amygdala
processes information from wide open eyes, lesion impairs eye fixation, simple
instructions reverse this.

Fearful faces can alter threshold for visual detection and increase visual field and eye
aperture.

• Appetitive → approach response
• Aversive → avoidance response (more with angry person)

Dopamine
Motivation = a state that energizes, directs and sustains behavior

• Cause of behavior
• Latency and intensity of behavior
• Drives persistence of behavior

Motivation to perform is driven by expectation of receiving a reward: positive reinforcers
→ pleasure upon receipt:

2

, • Primary rewards = innate reward (promote fitness)
• Secondary rewards = acquire reward value via learning (money, association)

Greatest source of dopamine in brain = substantia nigra and VTA (reaches into different
brain areas). Dopamine pleasure hypothesis → Nacc is pleasure center of the brain.

→ Dopamine depletion does not reduce hedonic reactions to receipt of reward
(facial liking reactions). L-dopa increases motivations but not pleasure, deep
brain stimulation of Nacc produces motivation but not pleasure.

Dopamine is key for wanting, not liking.
Opiod but not dopamine receptor stimulation increases liking reactions. Ventral
pallidum lesion causes loss of liking and induces disgust (not dopaminergic areas).

Dopamine as reward prediction error. Dopamine neurons encode prediction of reward.
PE = actual – expected reward

- + better than expected
- O same as expected
- - worse than expected

Social stimuli are experienced as rewarding

1. Social stimuli acquire their reward value from pairing with primary rewards.
2. Social stimuli are intrinsically rewarding

Dopamine drives learning about (social) stimuli.

Basisbehoeftes
3 psychologische basisbehoeftes:

1. Autonomie
2. Competentie
3. Verbondenheid

Groeiproces in richting van goed functioneren:

1. Uitbreiding van zelf, kansen en mogelijkheden. Gezonde integratie van zelf
(intrapsychische integratie) en met anderen.

Bevrediging Frustratie
Autonomie willen moeten
Competentie kunnen falen
Verbondenheid connectie exclusie
