Document preview thumbnail

PEDAGOGIEK
1. INTRODUCTIE

“In fact, there are – with the years – dozens of significant
contributions by theorists from different countries. As a result of this, there
are several different interpretations, partly without common denominators.
Consequently, the concept of social pedagogy is largely a semantic mess.”
(Hämäläinen, 2012, p. 3)

“A multitude of traditions of social pedagogy having different philosophical
starting
points and practical aims. Interpretations of the concept vary from country to
country. At
large social pedagogy is understood as a multi-disciplinary field of knowledge
linked first

LOST IN TRANSLATION

- Onbekend concept
o “An important but widely misunderstood member of the social
professions” (Lorenz, 2008, p. 625)
- Moeilijk concept in Anglo-Amerikaanse context
o Opvoeding als taak van het gezin
- Vaak ingevuld als ‘science of teaching and learning’ en ‘practice of
teaching’
o Individueel, cognitief leren

BACK TO THE ROOTS

o Vooral continentale traditie (Duitsland)
- Oorsprong in 19de eeuwse Industriële Revolutie

KARL MAGER

1

, - Geïntroduceerd in 1844 door Karl Mager (1810-1858)
- Reactie op ‘Individualpädagogik’
o “to emphasize the societal aspects of educational processes”
(Lorenz, 2008, p. 634)
- Opvoeding heeft een sociale missie

“Individualpädagogik is only concerned with the education of the human being
as an individual, while social pedagogy is concerned with the education of the
human being as a member of the community” (Depraetere & Vandenabeele,
2013, p. 7)

JOHANN HEINRICH PESTALOZZI (1746-1827)

- Focus op maatschappelijk achtergestelde groepen
- Holistische benadering: ‘head, heart, hands’
- Spanning tussen individuele en maatschappelijke doelstellingen van
opvoeding

PAUL NATORP (1854-1924): ‘FOUNDING FATHER’

sociale leven
o “The subject of our science is therefore the social conditions of
education and the educational conditions of social life. And we view
this not as two tasks, separable from one another, but rather as one
single one” (Frampton, 2022, p. 62)

ongelijkheid
- Pedagogische interventies moeten historische, culturele, persoonlijke en
maatschappelijke context in rekening brengen
o “social pedagogues should undertake specific social pedagogical
actions but also contribute to the transformation of the social
conditions that affect the welfare of participants” (Schugurensky &
Silver, 2013, p. 5)

2

, - Focus op ‘derde milieu’ en kwetsbare jongeren

CARL MENNICKE (1887-1959)

vanzelf
- ‘Sociaal-pedagogische verlegenheid’
o Belang van reflectieve houding

1960-1970: REVIVAL SOCIALE PEDAGOGIEK

- Focus op kritische reflectie op relatie individu-samenleving
- Kritisch-emancipatorische pedagogiek

KLAUS MOLLENHAUER (1928-1998)

- ‘Vergeten samenhang.

PAOLO FREIRE (1921-1997)

- 1970: Pedagogy of the oppressed
samenleving
- Opvoeding is niet neutraal

“questioning, demythologizing, historicizing, and transforming marginalizing
processes by unveiling the social, political, and cultural project underpinning
social and educational institutions”

HANS THIERSCH (1935 - )

- Lifeworld orientation – leefwereldgericht werken

- Integratie waarin?
o Open of vanuit vooropgesteld ideaalbeeld?
o Enge, functionalistische invulling (toeleiden naar bestaande
instituties/aanbod)
versus
Sociale integratie als beleidsopdracht (bijdragen tot ‘bruikbare’

“Sociale integratie is niet alleen
participeren aan de samenleving
zoals ze zich ontwikkelt,
maar ook de vraag stellen of de
voorwaarden tot participatie wel
sociaal rechtvaardig zijn.
En cruciaal: is de participatie die
we vragen voor de mensen zelf
zinvol?”
(Maria-Bouverne-De Bie,
maatschappelijke hulpbronnen)

FOCUS OP JONGEREN

PSYCHO-SOCIAAL MORATORIUM
