Function: (1) 1. Elevation of ribs #2-5 @ sternocostal and costospinal joints
Nerve: Intercostal nerves (T2-T5) (ventral (ant.) rami of the thoracic spinal nerves)

Function: (5) 1. Flexion of arm @ shoulder joint (clavicular head)
2. Extends the flexed arm @ shoulder joint (sternocostal head)
3. Adduction of arm @ the shoulder
4. Horizontal adduction (flexion) of arm @ shoulder joint
5. Medial rotation of arm @ shoulder joint
Nerve: Medial and lateral pectoral nerves

Insertion: Coracoid process of the scapula
Function: (3) 1. Protraction (abduction) of scapula @ scapulocostal joint
2. Downward rotation of scapula @ scapulocostal joint
3. Elevation of ribs #3-5 @ sternocostal and costospinal joints (during forced inhalation when scapula is fixed)
*4. Depression of scapula @ scapulocostal joint
