◍ Negative reinforcement. Ans: Something that you take away in the
environment that increase behavior in the future. ex: for every
aversive bite of broccoli that a child takes you check a box off on their
bite chart, this will increase the future eating habits to take bites of
broccoli.


◍ positive punishment. Ans: Something that you add to the
environment that will decrease the behavior in the future ex: you give
a child a check on the board for talking out of turn, this will decrease
their behavior to blurt out in the future.


◍ Negative punishment. Ans: Something that you take away in the
environment that will decrease the behavior . ex; you ignore a child
screaming when they are trying ti get you to look at them, and in the
future decreases their behavior to scream.


◍ Reinforcer. Ans: An item(toy), edible(cookie), or action
(attention) that increases behavior. ex; every time mom laughs at the
baby for engaging in peek a boo, the baby does peek a boo all the
time.


◍ Punisher. Ans: Is an item(loud siren), edible(broccoli), or action
that decreases behavior. ex: every time bobby jumps on the couch he

,gets a time out in his boring room and then all of a sudden he stops
jumping on the couch.


◍ conditioned reinforcer. Ans: Occurs when a natural item, edible,
or action reinforces, or strengthens another stimulus through its
association with the primary reinforcer. ex: when a child is given a
piece of orange(neutral edible) every time they are on the swings
(primary reinforcer)the child then begins wanting or requesting
oranges.


◍ Unconditioned reinforcer. Ans: Reinforcement that is inherent,
that you do not have to experience your past for it to be
reinforcing(increasing behavior) food, clothing, shelter,sex.


◍ Extinction. Ans: When a previous reinforced behavior is no longer
reinforced. ex: Mom does not talk with suzi when she falls on the
floor in a crying fit.


◍ Deprivation. Ans: when a reinforcing item, activity, or edible is
withheld from the client in order to create motivation fro them to
request or work for that thing. ex: After beginning of therapy , the
team and family decide to withhold the iPad time from the client in
order to create motivation during the session to earn five stars at the
end of the session to get iPad playing time.


◍ Satiation. Ans: When a reinforcing item, activity, or edible is
made completely available without any contingencies response. no
longer wants crackers because he has had many.

, ◍ Contingency. Ans: when a reinforcing activity, item or edible is
held contingent on neutral or aversive activity, item or edible. Ex:
"John you need to clean up first before we can go outside to play."


◍ Motivating operation. Ans: Affects how strongly a person is
reinforced or punished by the consequences of their behavior. Ex:
food deprivation is a MO; if a person is hungry, food is strongly
reinforcing, but if a person is satiated, food is not reinforcing.


◍ Antecedent. Ans: What happens before the behavior, triggers the
behavior. " The therapists grabs their bag and begins to walk toward
the door while say bye bye, the client drops to the floor, scream , and
cry.


◍ Behavior. Ans: A response, must be in objective terms. Non
compliance is not a is not a behavior, behavior is labeled as " client
turned head in opposite direction." "walked away after given a
demand."


◍ Consequence. Ans: what follows the behavior that will either
influence the behavior to increase or decrease ex: Client is given a
piece of cookie for requesting "cookie." client then independently
asks for cookie every time they want a cookie.


◍ 3 term contingency. Ans: Illustrates how behavior is elicited by
the environment and how the consequences of the behavior can affect
its future occurrence.
