HUMANITARIAN
RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM
1. INTRODUCTION
The Refugee & Humanitarian Resettlement Program RHRP is
managed by IRCC/CIC to protect refugees and people in refugee-like
situations for the following purposes Answer: - To address humanitarian
needs,
-To meet international responsibilities, &
-To respond to international crises.
2. RHRP:
Applies only to refugees located outside Canada, e.g. Seeking
temporary refuge in camps across the border from their war-torn
countries. The program is part of an international effort to find durable
,solutions for refugees. Answer: Canadian oflcials from missions abroad work with
the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR & various
non-governmental organizations NGOs to identify refugees & persons in refugee-like situations in need
resettlement.

4. HISTORY OF HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE FOR REFUGEES:
Canada has a history of accepting large numbers if persecuted
and displaced people, including refugees from the following countries
at the following times Answer: -

1960, Czechoslovakia,
1970, Chile, Uganda, Vietnam, Tibetans from northern
India, 1990, former Yugoslavia,
5. REFUGEES FROM COUNTRIES AT TIMES Answer: Answer: 2000, Sudan,
Somalia, Karen refugees, Myanmar, Tibetans state of Arunachal Pradesh India, Afghans,
Bhutanese, from Nepal, and Iraqis.
2016, as of November 2015, Trudeau had committed to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees by the beginnin
of 2016.
