Executive Summary
SNHUEnergy Inc. is a medium-sized oil and gas company focused on discovering and
drilling oil-based products. The company wants to grow into a company that provides
transportation and refinement of its discovery rather than being solely focused on exploration.
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with a workforce of 120 personnel, with a projected growth
of 50% each year for the next two years. With regional offices in Dallas, TX, and Memphis,
TN, SNHUEnergy, Inc. plans to expand to Kansas City, KS, and Houston, TX. Over the next
12 to 18 months, SNHUEnergy, Inc. wants to ensure the communication infrastructure is
ready and available for all regional offices to extend these services across the existing wide
area network (WAN) using TCP/IP communication processes.
Current Network Architecture
Today’s technologies offer various options for businesses of all sizes and types to create
new networks, enhance existing ones, and expand current systems. Investing in the latest
technological trends can positively impact a business that relies heavily on technology by
boosting efficiency, reliability, and security. One promising area for SNHUEnergy to explore is
current cloud technologies. “These capabilities can reduce costs by eliminating the need to invest
in and maintain physical hardware infrastructure.” (Atlassian, n.d.) A key advantage of cloud
technology is its ease of implementation and inherent scalability as the company grows. It also
results in savings in space and the number of IT personnel required to support the network.
One widely used application for day-to-day operations is Microsoft Office. The Microsoft
Office 365 suite is a cloud-based solution that SNHUEnergy can adopt instead of traditional, on-
site licensed office productivity software. Additionally, the Google Workspace productivity suite
