What is spelling?
Spelling is the way in which a word is spelled.
I have a problem with spelling. How can I improve my spelling?
Research has proved that a person that struggles with spelling usually doesn’t like reading. That is very
unfortunate, because if you want your essays, paragraphs, job applications, letters and overall writing, to
be good, you will have to find a way of getting reading material that suits your liking for your spelling to
improve.
Suggestion: start off with reading that is short but to your liking (about your favourite hobby, interest or
just a magazine).
Also remember to practice phonics on a daily basis. By repeating (writing out a word) you learn your
brain to get used to certain patterns in a word and to remember how a word is spelt. Always write a word
at least 3x without looking at your word given to practice.
