Introduction
Evidence-based practice (ERP) involves the use of best available evidence by healthcare
practitioners to make optimal decisions that will lead to patient safety, quality healthcare services
and desired outcomes (Lahane, Hegarty, & Drennan, 2020). For patient-centered care, evidence-
based practice could be achieved by incorporating best available evidence from current sources,
practitioner expertise, client’s needs, values and preferences. For this assessment, diagnosis of
high blood pressure will be used in helping the new nurse engage in evidence-based practice.
This assessment will focus on locating credible sources that can be used in implementing
evidence-based practice, communication and collaboration strategies to encourage nurses
research and access these resources (Lahane, Hegarty, & Drennan, 2020).
Communication Strategies to Encourage Nurses to Research About Diagnosis High Blood
Pressure and Strategies to Collaborate with The Nurses to Access Resources
As a nurse leader, it would be helpful to guide the notice nurses on how to obtain credible and
relevant evidence for diagnosis of high blood pressure. It should be a priority to emphasize on
reliable sources such as medical databases, journal articles and websites that contain credible
information that could be used to obtain information about high blood pressure (Morténius,
Hildingh, & Fridlund, 2017). There are various communication strategies that experienced nurses
can share with novice nurses about how to conduct literature review for diagnosis of high blood
pressure. Nurse leaders should emphasize that novice nurses identify common issues in
diagnosing high blood pressure. Having known the issue, they should focus on; novice nurses
should use the available resources within their working environment such as hospital library and
computer lab to undertake research.
