This paper consists of five (5) pages.


Instructions:

2. Please include your student number on your exam answer script.


3. You are allowed to access your prescribed works and the study material (this is an openbook
examination). You are, however, not allowed to copy verbatim from your study material. You should provide
answers in your own words. In the case of any cheating or plagiarism, no mark will be allocated.


4. Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file on the official myExams platform
(answer scripts must not be password protected or uploaded as "read-only" files). The University only marks
one (1) submission received from a student. Priority is granted to scripts received via the myExams platform.

According to Higgs and Letseka (2022, p. 9), “Much of the history of Africa has been dominated by
colonial occupation. Colonialism in Africa provided the framework for the organised subjugation of the
cultural, scientific and economic life of many on the African continent.”
Explain, in what ways education in Africa became colonialised. In your response, provide an evaluation
of whether education is still colonised today. (10)
