1.1 Listening:
By listening in class to what the teacher says and
how she pronounce the words, it can help the
student improve in their language and also
spelling. Listening is a communication skill which
is taught by teachers to the learners.
Learners can learn to listen by playing games and
songs or rhymes and need to listen for a certain
word or listen to a story and answer questions
about it. Listening will improve their reading and
speaking abilities.
“First, effective listening can help you become a
better student. Second, effective listening can help
you become more effective in your interpersonal
relationships. Third, effective listening can lead
others to perceive you as more intelligent. Lastly,
effective listening can help you become a stronger
public speaker.”

Speaking:
Learners who learn to speak the language will
improve their reading ability and spelling.
Teaching learners’ formal language rather than
slang will improve their pronunciation.
The more they speak the language, the better they
will become at communicating in it. “Essentially,
speaking a language helps to move your
knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and
pronunciation from the back of your mind to the
front, or from your 'slow memory' to your 'quick
memory. Given time, this will improve your fluency
and memory too.”

If a learner can read in the First Additional
language, they will be able to speak and write the
language too. Reading can improve the learner’s
