🫁 Understanding COPD and Exacerbations
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a long-term condition that affects
airflow to the lungs, making it harder to breathe.
A COPD exacerbation (flare-up) happens when your breathing suddenly becomes worse
due to triggers such as infection, pollution, cold weather, or missing your medications.
During an exacerbation, you may notice:
Increased shortness of breath
More coughing or wheezing
Change in mucus color or amount
Feeling tired or weak
Chest tightness
Early recognition and quick treatment can help prevent hospitalization.
💊 Medication Management
Continue taking your medications exactly as prescribed. These help control symptoms and
prevent flare-ups.
