The term "Security Officer" mean - Ans Any person privately employed to do :
1. Prevent the , misappropria on, or concealment of goods, wares, merchandise, money,
bonds, stock cer ficates, or other valuable documents, papers, ar cles.
2. Prevent damage to real or personal property
3. Prevent assaults, gate crashing, or other disorders at mee ngs, events, or performances.
4. Prevent similar illegal occurrences.
The term "Security Officer" includes the following - Ans Uniformed individuals employed by a
security agency or other employer for any of the purposes.
Are employed as guards, watch persons, patrol service personnel for the specified property,
security technicians, security officers, and other similar posi ons.
The term "Security Officer" does not include any of the following - Ans Special police officers,
persons working in their official capacity as employees of the federal government, members of
the Metropolitan Police Department or the public police force, armored car guards, or campus
police officers.
Each cer fica on for a security officer shall be: - Ans held for 2 years, with a 90 day dura on of
training
Duty of security agency or employer - Ans 1. Cannot make its own determina on of an
applicant's suitability for employment.
2. Any a2empt at a contractual limita on of liability shall be null and void.
3. Liability of the agency shall be limited to those mes when the employee is on duty.
, Eligibility requirements-General - Ans 1. Applica on for a cer ficate shall be made to the
Mayor
2. Shall submit to the mayor under oath
3. Be at least 18, US ci zen or valid immigra on and Naturaliza on Service work permit, and be
able to read, write, and speak English.
Eligibility Requirements- Health:
Each applicant for cer fica on shall be required to submit a physician's cer ficate sta ng - Ans
1. Not presently addicted to drugs or alcohol
2. Not suffering from any debilita ng mental defect or disorder
3. Not suffering from serious heart disease, severe epilepsy, or other physical defect.
4. Pass a drug screen test
Security officers shall be subject to: - Ans reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol tes ng by the
security agency or employer.
The term "Reasonable Suspicion" means: - Ans the officer is impaired while on duty.
The term "Fails" means: - Ans 1. The officer's blood contained more than .03%, urine
contained more than .04%, by weight, of alcohol
2.The drug test detected the presence of a controlled substance in the officer's blood or urine.

released from incarcera on for a felony convic on in any jurisdic on within 2 years prior
2. Been released from incarcera on for a misdemeanor convic on in any jurisdic ons involving
larceny or the illegal use, carrying, or concealment of a dangerous weapon within 1 year prior.
