interviews or ability tests to reject or accept applicants. Moreover, the student assessed
the weaknesses and strengths of these selection devices.
4.The student researched, evaluated and chose whether or not to utilize integrity testing
and drug testing.
5.The student applied correct APA, style, usage, grammar, and punctuation.
6.The student supported the research paper with at least four different scholarly sources
such as research journals, research studies, government or accredited educational
institutions websites.

Our company is thinking of expanding its business operations to the neighboring state.
Being the CHRO one of my primary roles is that of the workforce strategist and I will
have to do the planning for hiring new staff. In total, the new office will require around 40
staff and a part of these vacancies will be filled internally with people who are willing to
be transferred. However, still a sizable part of the whole workforce to be hired remains.
Mainly, the hiring will be for the operations and the marketing departments apart from
finance and human resources. While internal post will constitute the most senior level
postings, still the lower level or frontline jobs will require new hiring. As a result around
40 additional staff will have to be hired for the new office including, sales
representatives, sales managers, operations assistance, operations manager etc. Hiring

, is an elaborate process and needs planning and proper caution regarding compliance at
every stage.
There are also various legal issues to be kept in mind while hiring new staff. Generally,
there are four or five things to be kept in mind while hiring new staff which are listed
below:
1. Avoid any kind of discrimination.
2. Respect the privacy rights of the candidates
3. Refrain from making any promises that you cannot keep.
4. Abide to the legal rules for hiring young employees and immigrants.
There are several legal astute like the Americans with Disabilities Act, The Age
Discrimination in Employment Act, the Immigration Reform and control Act which should
be kept in mind while hiring new staff. The Age discrimination Act clearly states that
candidates or employees should not be discriminated against at any stage whether at
the pre employment stage or post employment stage. (EEOC, n.d.) It generally leads to
discrimination against older people and has to be avoided, especially during interviews.
Another important legal astute which should be kept in mind while making employment
related decisions is the Americans with Disabilities Act. It clearly prohibits any
discrimination on the basis of any disability which does not severely limit the person’s
ability to accomplish his duty and related tasks. Unless the job especially demands there
should not be any discrimination on the basis of physical abilities. In case, job demands
special physical ability it can be clearly stated at the time of advertising for the job and
otherwise not. Similarly, the Immigrant Reform and control Act also prohibits any kind of
discrimination on the basis of a person’s place of origin or citizenship. (EEOC, n.d.) It
should also be kept in mind that no such discrimination is made at the time one is hiring
new staff. The interview questions too should not try to illicit any such information which
may lead to discrimination on basis of age, citizenship or physical ability. Apart from all,
it is necessary to respect the privacy rights of the candidates during screening and no
information beyond the legal limits should be tried to illicit for them.
The major positions open for hiring and the required qualifications are mentioned below:

Graduates shall be preferred for this post and a business or marketing degree will be
especially helpful. Some knowledge and experience of sales and what it involves is also
important. However, candidates with no experience shall also be considered as training
