Hesi Math Exam Questions and
Answers 100% Pass

1) A farmer has 240 acres under cultivation at the cost of $188.99 per acre. If he

averages a yield of 60 bushel per acre, what profit is expected if the price per

bushel is $5.67? - ANSWER-$36,290.40

First figure out total cost of cultivation. $189.99 per acre x 240 acres = $45,357.60

so basically it costs the farmer $45,357.60 to maintain 240 acres. Next, figure out

how much he earns per bushel. 60 bushels per acre x 240 acres = 14,400 bushels

total. 14,400 x $5.67 (cost per bushel) = $81,648 is how much he earns, but you

have to subtract $45,357.60 because that's how much he is losing (spending) to

maintain his farm $81,648 - $45,357 = $36,290.40

4) Train A leaves the station at 1:45 traveling at a constant speed of 65 mph. If it

arrives at its destination at 3:15, how many miles did it travel? - ANSWER-97.5

If the train leaves at 1:45 and arrives at 3:15 it has been traveling for 1.5 hours. To

find how far it has traveled, we multiply by the speed: 1.5 x 65 = 97.5

5) Leslie is blowing up one of her favorite photographs to hand on her wall. If the

6) If Larry can cash 50 cars in 1/2 hour, how long will it take him to wash 80 cars?

- ANSWER-48 minutes

minutes per car. 80 cars will take 80 x 6 = 48 minutes.

, If the runner is out from 7:45 to 10:00, he ran for 2:15. 2:15 = 2.25 hours. Since he

travels at an average of 6 mph, his total travel distance is 2.25 x 6 = 13.5 miles.

hours, to finish the play set with 4 workers. It would then take 93 hours to to

finish building 3 play sets: 9 hours x 3 play sets = 27 hours.

10) If Randy sells 8 times as many vacuum cleaners as Janice, and Janice sells 690

vacuum cleaners per year, on average, how many does Randy sell each month? -

ANSWER-460 vacuum cleaners per month

If Randy sells 8 times as many vacuum cleaners as Janice, and Janice sells 690

vacuum cleaners per year, then Randy sells 8 x 690 = 5,520 vacuum cleaners per a
