Task 1: Critical Analysis of the Teacher’s Question
“Are my learners struggling to learn, or am I struggling to teach?”
Introduction
The question posed by the teacher strikes at the heart of inclusive education. It reflects
the tension between attributing difficulties to learners’ inherent deficits and recognising
the professional responsibility of educators to adapt their teaching. Rather than situating
learning struggles solely within the learner, this question demands a broader
examination of how pedagogical practices, teacher attitudes, and structural conditions
interact with learner diversity (Florian & Spratt, 2013). Addressing this reflection requires
a balanced analysis of both learner-related challenges and teacher-related influences.
