"private defense." Include an example to support your explanation.
Private defense refers to a lawful action taken by a security official to protect
themselves, another person, or property against an unlawful and imminent attack. The
force used must be reasonable, proportional, and necessary to avert the danger. A
security official may not use excessive force that goes beyond what is required to
neutralise the threat.
Example:
If an armed intruder attempts to stab a security officer at the entrance of a shopping
mall, the officer may lawfully use force, including disarming the attacker or using their
firearm, to defend themselves and others. However, once the threat is neutralised,
continued use of force would be unlawful.

Identify and explain the different elements of access control. Provide an example
of each from your work environment.
1. Identification – The process where an individual claims an identity (e.g., using
an ID card or employee badge).
Example: At my workplace, employees must present their staff cards before
entering the office premises.
2. Authentication – Verifying that the identity is genuine through passwords, PINs,
or biometric systems.
