Assessing Impact on Student Learning
Task 2
October 22, 2025
Pre-Assessment
A. Analyze the student pre-assessment results from the scenario by doing the following:
1. Discuss an area of strength (i.e., skill area, question type, student subset) and how it is
supported by the data.
An area of strength I observed based on the data is the proficiency in
key/signal words. This is supported by the data because according to the chart 75
% of total students were proficient in key/signal words.
2. Discuss a potential problem area (i.e., skill area, question type, student subset) and how it
is supported by the data.
A potential problem area is for the solutions skills portion of the
assessment. Based on the data, the proficiency percentages were between 20 and
35 percent for the solution skills. This shows that these skills need to be worked
on because no student was proficient in this section.

B. Using your analysis from part A, recommend an adjustment to the “Anticipatory Set” section
of the lesson plan from the scenario.
One adjustment I would recommend would be to provide students with
multiple examples of problem- solving scenarios. Instead of just showing one
video on problem solution, I would offer multiple scenarios and allow for
classroom discussion for coming up with solutions to these problems. Using real-
life scenarios should help students brainstorm and apply to the lesson. I would
also encourage peer discussions to go over and evaluate different problems and
solutions.
Informal Formative Assessment
C. Analyze the student results from the informal formative assessment from the scenario by
doing the following:
1. Discuss an area of strength and how it is supported by the data.
One area of strength I noticed in the informal formative assessment is the
proficiency in key/signal words. According to the data 17 out of the 20 students were
proficient in key/signal words. This means that 85% of students are proficient in this skill
set.
2. Discuss a problem area and how it is supported by the data.
One problem area is in the solution category. According to the data, only 11 out
of the 20 students scored proficient. This means that only 55% of the students understood
this concept/skill set.
