In the context of South African property law, vesting clauses clearly identify the
transferee and their legal capacity so that ownership is properly recorded in the Deeds
Registry. Section 16 of the Deeds Registries Act 47 of 1937 stipulates that transfer of
land must be effected by registration in a deeds registry, and Regulation 18 sets
requirements for the proper description of transferees (including natural persons, legal
persons, partnerships, and trusts).
