, Inclusive Education
Question 1
1.1 Define inclusive pedagogy and list three key principles that guide its practice.
(5)
Inclusive pedagogy is an approach to teaching that recognises and respects the diverse
needs of all learners by creating learning environments where every learner feels
valued, supported, and able to participate meaningfully. It goes beyond adapting for
individual learners and focuses on teaching strategies that are inclusive from the start.
Three key principles of inclusive pedagogy:
1. Valuing learner diversity – recognising differences as strengths and ensuring
all learners feel included.
2. High expectations for all – believing in the potential of every learner to achieve,
regardless of their challenges.
3. Collaborative and reflective practice – working with others (teachers, parents,
learners) and continuously reflecting to improve teaching practices.
1.2 Compare and contrast how inclusive pedagogy addresses the needs of
learners with physical disabilities versus learners with learning disabilities. (5)
Similarities:
Both groups are supported through proactive planning and differentiated teaching
strategies.
The classroom environment is adjusted to remove barriers to participation for
both.
Teachers are encouraged to hold high expectations for all learners and provide
multiple ways of engagement.
