The practice (controlled) part of my lesson plan is sentence organizing. I would prepare a
story using past simple sentences only with the title “What Max did yesterday”. The verbs in
the sentences are given in parenthesis (i.e. “After breakfast, Max _ (get) dressed.”) Each pair
of students are given a few sentences of the story. Firstly, the pairs need to fill in the past
simple form of the verbs, also using “didn’t” if necessary. Later every student needs to stand
up and they have to work together to put the completed sentences in order.
Task 2
As the production (free) part this lesson, I make each student to pick a card from my hand.
Each card contains a question, like: “What would you do if you were younger?”. Then I ask
everyone to stand up and start walking around so they get mixed. After I clap, everyone has to
stop and form a circle. Then going clockwise, the first student has to ask the question on her
card to her neighbor. After the second student answers (i.e. “If I were younger, I would be a
football player.”) she turns to the third student with her own question.
