QUESTION 1

Ensuring Digital Technologies Foster Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

In the modern classroom, digital technologies must be integrated purposefully to move beyond
surface learning towards developing higher-order cognitive skills. Critical thinking and problem-
solving are essential for preparing learners to navigate complex real-world challenges. Therefore, as
an educator, I must create learning experiences where technology serves as a tool to analyse,
evaluate, and create knowledge, rather than simply consume it.

1. Purposeful Selection of Digital Tools

To foster higher-order cognitive skills, I will purposefully select digital tools aligned with learning
outcomes. For example, using platforms like Google Workspace or Microsoft Teams enables
learners to collaboratively analyse texts, create presentations, and solve authentic problems.
Choosing tools that encourage analysis, synthesis, and evaluation ensures that technology use goes
beyond rote learning towards developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

2. Designing Problem-Based and Inquiry-Based Learning Tasks

I will design lessons incorporating problem-based and inquiry-based tasks using digital technologies.
