Executive Summary
This proposal recommends the integration of high-fidelity simulation
technology into “The Role of the BSN Nurse in Community Health Promotion”
course. This integration aims to address gaps in experiential learning and
the underdevelopment of essential skills such as communication, clinical
judgment, and adaptability in community health nursing. HFS offers a
solution by providing realistic, interactive scenarios that allow students to
practice community health interventions in a safe, low-risk environment,
enhancing their decision-making skills and building their confidence. In this
proposal, a literature review is presented, as well as a gap analysis and a
force field analysis for the implementation of this technology. Facilitating
factors as well as impeding factors are discussed. Stakeholders are
identified, and a change theory is presented for implementing this
technology into the curriculum. The challenges and benefits of adopting this
technology are discussed in this proposal as well as how this technology
could be pivotal to the nursing program and the course and the field of
nursing in general. Implementing this proposal will have a significant impact
on the field of nursing by producing graduates who are more confident and
capable of addressing real-world health challenges in population health.
Implementing this technology aligns with current trends in nursing education
which emphasize experiential learning and contribute to improved outcomes
for patients and stronger healthcare systems. The integration of HFS will
enhance nursing education and this community health course and prepare
future nurses to meet the evolving demands of community and population

High-Fidelity Simulation Proposal
High-fidelity simulation (HFS) has gained increasing recognition in nursing
education as an effective pedagogical tool for bridging the gap between
theory and practical clinical application. The integration of HFS into the
curriculum of “The Role of the BSN Nurse in Promoting Community Health”
presents a promising opportunity to enhance the student's clinical
reasoning, self-efficacy, adaptability, and confidence. HFS can also
contribute to hands-on skill development in a safe, low-stakes environment
before clinical experiences with higher stakes and live patient situations.
This proposal explores the benefits and technical factors of integrating this
technology into the curriculum. Using high-fidelity simulation can serve as a
means of bolstering the student’s ability to learn, understand, and retain
information as well as practical skills to take with them into the real world in
a community health context. Nursing is a very hands-on, involved
profession, and thus, I believe that our education in nursing should also
reflect those qualities. That goal is achievable with the use of high-fidelity
simulation technology. Offering the students the most realistic practice
possible at skills and knowledge application is the most effective way to set
them up for clinical practice.
Literature Review
This literature review discusses and synthesizes findings from five peer-
reviewed studies that support the implementation of HFS in nursing
education, specifically in the context of the course “The Role of the BSN
