Why we use computers?

 Computers are efficient because they save time, resources, and
labour.
 They are also accurate and reliable. They can communicate
quickly and easily.
 They eliminate time and distance as constraints.
 Enable us to communicate globally in different ways.
 They save communication costs.

Types of Computers:
Non-Portable Computers

Desktop: A desktop computer is a personal computer designed for regular
use at a single location on or near a desk or table due to its size
and power requirements.
Server: A powerful computer used to provide resources and services to
all the computers that are linked together.
Portable Computers

Laptops and A laptop, often called a notebook, is a small, portable personal
Notebooks: computer with a "clamshell" form factor, typically having a thin
LCD or LED computer screen mounted on the inside of the upper
lid of the clamshell and an alphanumeric keyboard on the inside
of the lower lid. Larger than 12”/13” inches.
Hybrid A Windows tablet that is also a laptop computer. The tablet is
laptops/tablets: attached to a keyboard that can be easily removed. Also called a
"detachable" and sometimes a "2-in-1."
Smartphone: Smartphones are a class of mobile phones and of multi-purpose
mobile computing devices. They are distinguished from feature
phones by their stronger hardware capabilities and extensive
mobile operating .
Phablet: The phablet is a class of mobile devices combining or straddling
the size format of smartphones and tablets. The word itself is a
portmanteau of the words phone and tablet. Phablets feature
large displays that complement screen-intensive activity such as
mobile web browsing and multimedia viewing.

A user is a person who utilizes a computer or network service. Users of computer systems and
software products generally lack the technical expertise required to fully understand how they
work.

Personal User This is auser who uses a computer for personal tasks such as banking
browsing the web,emailing , gaming etc.
SOHO User Short for small office/home office, a term that refers to the small or home
office environment and the business culture that surrounds it. A SOHO is often
thought of as being the smallest of small businesses. It is a privately owned
and operated business or individuals who are self-employed.
Power User Power users use advanced features of programs, though they are not
necessarily capable of computer programming and system
administration.
Mobile User A smartphone or tablet user. A traveling user with a laptop computer.


Convergence:

Convergence is the coming together of two different entities, and in the
contexts of computing and technology, is the integration of two or more
different technologies in a single device or system.

It felt like skimming over the textbook. Only contains grade 12 theory and a more complete abbreviation list/glossary is available for free online; any additions to that were from the glossary at the back of the textbook. All love though. <3
