and control of COMSEC material
Effective Key - Answer-key that is in the current period of time allowed for use
3 categories of COMSEC material - Answer-equipment, keying material, COMSEC aids
CONAUTH - Controlling Authority - Answer-manages traditional COMSEC material, evaluates COMSEC
incidents, authorizes issue/destruction of COMSEC material, releases a Controlling Authority Status
Message for all keys they control, and directs the operation of a cryptonet
Command Authority (CA or CMDAUTH) - Answer-manages modern key assets for a department, agency,
or command, grants privileges to User Representatives (URs) and associated key ordering privileges, and
validates CF Form 1206 before submission to Central Facility (CF)
Asymmetric/Modern Key - Answer-a collection of asymmetric key such as Secure Data Network System
(SDNS) FIREFLY key, and Message Signature Key (MSK)
Traditional Key - Answer-managed by Controlling Authority, distributed, effective and supersession
dates, copied
, Modern Key - Answer-managed by CMDAUTH, ordered, expiration (12 months from date of generation),
moved when issued
CF1200 - Answer-Closed Partition Registration Request: used to establish a closed partition
CF1201 - Answer-CMDAUTH Registration Request: used to establish a new CMDAUTH or modify/delete
an existing one
CF1202 - Answer-DAO Registration Request: same purpose as the CF1207 (UR DAO Privilege Request).

CF1207 - Answer-User Representative DAO Privilege Registration Request: used to establish a new DAO
code or modify/delete the description or entire code for an existing DAO. also used to
modify/add/delete a Class 6 Code
DAO Code - Answer-Department, Agency, Organization (DAO) codes identify a caller during a secure
session and identify those privileged to order modern keying material. It's a 6-digit number that
represents 2 lines of data:
USN, MSC (Military Sealift Command), USCG, USMC
Line 2 is geographic location or DEPLOYED
Class 6 Codes - Answer-2-digit numeric codes associated with a special description and tied, by key order
privileging to a DAO code.
